Martha Revels Malphus
Martha Revels Malphus was born about 1812 in Montgomery County, Georgia. On her death certificate it stated that her father was Jerry Revels and she was born in Montgomery, GA. Being that the Revels was in Montgomery County, GA in 1800 where we have records of Edmond Revels had worked at the Montgomery County, GA Courthouse in 1800. About 10 to 15 years where they lived at formed from Montgomery County to Emanuel County, GA. This would fit the statement to be true about her Death Certificate. In 1818 Emanuel County, GA Edmond and John Revels are both listed on a land Plat that Edmond had purchased. It wasn't until about two years later when they were in Tattnall/Appling County, GA.
The Mystery about Martha has puzzled people on doing research as far as her maiden name. Was she a Tucker or a Revels or was she a Thomas?
YDNA Has been done on her male descendant which is kit 643743 and his last name is Revels. 643743 Revels is from Martha's son William Randall Revels. He is a direct male line from William Randall Revels. 643743 Revels did BigY-700 and he didn't match up to any of the Revels, Tucker, or Thomas Family in Florida or anywhere in the U.S With those three surnames. This would mean that William Randall Revels father was absolutely Not a Revels. He wasn't a Tucker or a Thomas. The Revels that were in Florida at that time are a E-FT380130/E-FT387426. 643743 Revels was a R-S1380. These two Haplogroups are completely different and not even close to be a match. 643743 Revels matched up to 16 People with the Last name Lamb. One of these Lamb's is a GD 1 Step match which is very Close. About 6 other Lambs are a GD 2 Step Match which is still close. These Matches fit about the time as of William Randall Revels coming from a Mr. Lamb. In Emanuel County/Montgomery County, GA There was two Lamb families living near the Revels and Tucker family. They also lived near them in Lowndes County, GA and Madison County, FL. At some point in the 1830's/40's is when A Mr. Lamb and Martha had William Randall Revels, and YDNA has proven this to be accurate.
Now the Next step is Martha, was she a Tucker, Thomas, or was she a Revels? Being that the fact to find this answer out is by AutosomalDNA. Kit 643743 Revels in AutosomalDNA Testing matched up to Revels and Tuckers. Which this makes it hard, Being the fact that 643743 Revels matched up to Revels outside of the Revels/Tucker Connection, this would point more towards Martha being a Revels and Not a Tucker. If she was a Tucker, then none of her living descendants would match up to any of the Revels. Also being the fact that The Revels matches are closer than Tucker About 1 or 2 generations away, this would mean that either her mother or Grandmother was a Tucker. In an old letter found in some research papers of the Late Pauline Murley, she had a letter written to her from the old Tattnall County, GA farm where some of the old family still lived at. In the letter it stated that Jeremiah Revels was married first to Martha Tucker and had Martha Revels about 1812, then after Martha died, Jeremiah Revels married Keziah Tucker, which was a sister to Martha Tucker.
Another male descendant with the Last name Revels from Martha Revels Malphus son John L Revels 1842 did a yDNA 37 test, and it showed that John L. Revels didn't match up to William Randall Revels in yDNA. They did match up in AutosomalDNA which shows that these two are Half Brothers and not Full brothers. William Randall Revels and John L Revels had the same Mother but different father. John L. Revels 1842 was the son of a man with the last name Cannon. The Revels tester matched up to a Cannon tester with a perfect 37 marker match and matched up to other Cannon testers at the 37 Level.
Martha Revels Malphus Born about 1812 in Montgomery County, GA was born a Revels and not a Tucker or a Thomas. DNA Has proven that Martha's son William Randall Revels was by an Unknown Lamb and herson John L. Revels was by an Unknown Cannon.
